About Beverly

Beverly is a recovering attorney who has spent more 30 years as a legal, regulatory, transactional, and management professional. She has extensive experience advising government officials and business leaders in the U.S. and overseas, which could be alternately really frustrating and really cool.

Overdosed on too much serious stuff, Beverly is taking her 12-step recovery one day at a time. She should have been a writer. Or a multi-media artist. But when she graduated from college, having matriculated at a women’s college at the tail end of the Women’s Movement during there 1970s that she took seriously — sporting an ERA button, no less — she was afraid to embark on a career path that might lead to her starvation.

Notwithstanding her recovery, Beverly got some sage advice from somebody while she was in college. She can’t remember if it was her commencement speaker (Gloria Steinem!), or a random mentor. Yet she remembers the advice verbatim. “You are very fortunate. You have a world-class education. Now use it. Go out and have adventures.”

Having followed that advice, perhaps a bit too zealously but not to the point (she hopes) that she became a dilettante, the tedium of lawyering has been broken up over the years by innumerable unique and special experiences in which she met some of the most spectacular people in the world. There is nothing in world she would accept in exchange any of those experiences or any of those people who remain dear to her. And what those experiences and people taught her about living her best life.

This chronicle is Beverly’s memoir in part, and also observations on current events that have been informed by her adventures. Thanks for joining her as she relives her journey and ponders her way through its next phases and all that is going on in the world around us.
